“You’re watching the Curse of Oak Island in a rush, we’re recapping the Season 9, Episode 9, ‘The Unusual Suspects’. So, what happened? It’s the start of another exciting week on Oak Island. We start with borehole digging for shaft six. Quick question: who’s got the wood that smells real good and leads to treasure as it should? I’m talking about shaft six. They find wood, can you dig it?
Convinced they found shaft six, they bore down to what they are certain is a debris field filled with treasure. However, they only find mud, wood, and twigs, which seems like a strange treasure, well, unless you’re a barn swallow. Then, there’s more aimless digging in the swamp for the ship-shaped anomaly. This time, they find not just wood but interesting wood, which includes the following theoretical items: a wooden survey stake, wood ship planking, barrel wood, a wooden pin, and a cut wood thing. If only there was some logical explanation as to how all these wooden things might have somehow, I don’t know, floated from the ocean into the swamp. Now that I say it out loud, it sounds preposterous. It’s far more likely they are the remnants of an ancient treasure ship that was intentionally sunk, burned, then buried on Oak Island.

Metal detecting on Lot 4 finds a metal thing, and just to note, Gary’s using a new metal detector in the GPX 5000, which can detect things 4 feet below the surface. However, the metal thing is still just a few inches down. I guess we have to wait until next week to find Xena’s fabled hatch.
We end with a war room theory from Doug. He believes there was some random time in history when the Portuguese were sailing from South America loaded with gold, encountered a storm, turned toward Oak Island, built a giant wharf, then buried their gold in the money pit. He bases this theory on the following evidence: the stone shot they found may or may not have been Portuguese in origin. This all seems reasonable. Tune in next time when we learn the most unusual suspect tied to Oak Island was the Egyptian Pharaoh, Tutankhamun. The number of times I had to say that out loud before I could do it without laughing, it’s so stupid, so stupid.
